Nina Divito was born in Dublin where she studied fine art at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Dunlaoghaire. Later on moving to England, she obtained a BA (Hons) Degree in Model Making for Design and Media at the Arts Institute, Bournemouth. Following some experience in the film industry Nina was accepted onto the prestigious shoe making course in Cordwainers @ The London College of Fashion. On graduating from Corwainers she worked as a design assistant to a successfully established footwear designer in London.

Around this time Nina began a successful and continuing career as an artist. Her paintings – solely of shoes! – are avidly sought out by collectors and her exhibitions receive stalwart praise across the media.

When Nina Divito paints, she does not only paint shoes – she captures a confident femininity, a playful sexuality, an assertive individuality and an acute awareness of contemporary lifestyle. She does so with a dramatic use of colour and an engaging sense of proportion.

The American artist Jenny Holzer once said ‘Fashion in an intelligent person’s hands is facinating’. Nina Divito’s work gives powerful resonance to that viewpoint. Commenting on her latest collection, Nina says “ To me my paintings are an indulgent glimpse into the relationship between women and their shoes. Women who see shoes as symbols of power, sex and femininity, I am completely inspired the sensual silhouette of a shoe, both on and off the foot”

Now the passion, independence and appeal of her art collection has been transferred, through themedium of her design experience into a truly luxurious footwear collection – it’s independence of spirit making it instantly collectible rather than transitory or faddish in design. A palette of rich pearly pastels accentuates the overall femininity of the collection which is made in one of Italy’s most renowned footwear factories using the age old techniques of the Venetian Shoemakers Guild.
